Ofcom revoked RT's broadcast licence in March 2022. Separately, sanctions regulations in force since 29 April 2022 designate TV-Novosti and require internet access providers to take reasonable steps to block rt.com, on penalty of up to GBP 1m. Enforcement is uneven: the blocks are DNS-level, not every provider applies them, and no provider has faced action, so the site is still reachable on many networks.

Ofcom revoked CGTN's United Kingdom broadcast licence on 4 February 2021, finding that licence-holder Star China Media had no editorial responsibility for the channel's output, and it refused to transfer the licence to China Global Television Network Corporation because that body is ultimately controlled by the Chinese Communist Party — which United Kingdom broadcasting law does not permit.
Discord rolled out United Kingdom age checks (face scan or ID) for sensitive content under the Online Safety Act in July 2025; a later breach at a third-party verification vendor exposed ID photos of about 70,000 users.
Under the United Kingdom Online Safety Act, Reddit has required age verification for mature content since 14 July 2025, using selfie or ID checks run by a third-party provider.
