See it in the interactive index →

Crimea

Netflix has never been available in Crimea. When it expanded nearly worldwide in January 2016, Crimea was excluded alongside Syria, North Korea, and People's Republic of China due to U.S. government trade sanctions prohibiting U.S. companies from providing services to the region.

Eritrea

Islamic Republic of Iran

Netflix is unavailable in Islamic Republic of Iran due to US sanctions, and the service is also blocked by Iranian authorities.

North Korea

Russia

Netflix suspended its service in Russia in March 2022 after the invasion of Ukraine, citing conditions on the ground, rising sanctions, and payment challenges. It had already paused future Russian projects and refused to carry state propaganda channels required under new Russian media rules.

Syria

Netflix has never offered service in Syria. When it expanded nearly worldwide in January 2016, Syria was excluded along with other territories subject to U.S. sanctions. The company still lists Syria among countries where Netflix is not available — a sanctions-driven restriction rather than a Syrian government block of the platform.
